Creating a Storyboard
Creating a new Storyboard is easy! You can do so using a tablet or your web portal - my.kaymbu.com.
*Storyboards are not available via the phone app as phone screens are much too small for an enjoyable creation process. Of course, you can always capture your observations using your phone app and use another platform to curate your content as a Storyboard!*
To make a new Storyboard, follow these steps:
- Go to Menu > Storyboards
- Select "New Storyboard" and type your Storyboard Title
- Add new sections to your storyboard by clicking on the large "+" icon and choosing a section type. You can keep adding sections to create a layout that fits your needs
Adding Images, Video, Text, and Attachments
To add images, video, text or attachments select one of the appropriate layouts.
Once you have selected your layout, you can add to your selection by selecting "Tap to choose photo or "Tap to edit text".
To add a photo or video, you can choose to either upload your own media if you have content outside of your Kaymbu account or use a previously published Moment. To add your own media, select "Click to Upload More!" To use a previously published moment, Choose the Moment you'd like to add, trim it so it fits in your selected image section type, and select Save! If you selected a grid that included the option for media and text, you will notice your previously published comments automatically update into the text section!
Remember, you can keep adding section types to extend your Storyboard by clicking the "+" button at the bottom of the screen!
If you change your mind about the layout, the modules are easy to move around! Simply click on the "Rearrange" icon on the left of the section type, scroll to the area you'd like that section type to move to, and select "Move Here."
Deleting Sections
If you want to completely delete particular sections of a Storyboard you have created, select the trash can icon to the right of that section.
Sending and Saving Storyboards
When you're done creating a Storyboard, you might choose to save it for internal reference or share it with families and/or colleagues. To Save for internal reference select "Done" in the bottom left corner.
Once you have saved your Storyboard, you will find the options below to Create PDF or to Email.
To send the Storyboard as an email, select Email and choose recipients connected to your Kaymbu account by selecting the "+" button. Choose your recipient(s) and select Done. You can also type in any email addresses if you'd like to send the Storyboard to anyone else! Teachers, keep in mind Directors and Administrators can always access teacher Storyboards, so there's no need to send a Storyboard to your Director!
Copying Storyboards
Copying Storyboards is a simple way to save yourself time when creating similar storyboards. For example, if you've already created a July newsletter and like the format, you can easily replicate it for August by copying the storyboard, changing the title, and inputting the new month's information! Any edits made to the copied Storyboard will only apply to the Storyboard being edited at that time and will not affect the original Storyboard.
Teachers - Teachers are able to copy Storyboards from their classroom account into any other teacher account within their center. Keep in mind Directors and Administrators can view all Storyboards within their center or organization, so there's no need for a teacher to share with them! For example, a Teacher might create a learning journey reflection on a particular unit of study. To showcase the work amongst colleagues, the teacher can copy the Storyboard into other classroom accounts at his or her location.
Directors - Directors can copy any Storyboard (even one a teacher has created!) within their own account or into another classroom at their center. For example, a Director can make a newsletter, which shares whole school information. Once done with the entire school portion, the Director will copy the Storyboard into each classroom account. At that time, the teacher adds in a few extra sections of classroom-specific information before sharing it with families.
Administrators - Administrators are able to copy any Storyboards within the Administrator accounts, as well as to any center and classroom within their organization.
To copy storyboards, first, select the Storyboard, then select Copy Storyboard, enter the title, and select the classroom you would like it to be copied into!
