Overview of OSEP Outcomes Report
The OSEP Outcomes Report collects the exit data that will ultimately be exported, most likely by program administrators. This report shows the number of students who fall into the five Progress Reporting Categories (A, B, C, D, E) for each outcome, which is then calculated to determine the Two Summary Statements.

Calculating OSEP Outcomes
The OSEP Outcomes Report shows two pieces of information: the number of children in each progress category for each outcome by the entity and the summary statements 1&2. The five Progress Reporting Categories are:
- A = Did not improve functioning
- B = Improved functioning, but not sufficient to move nearer to functioning comparable to same-aged peers
- C = Improved functioning to a level nearer to same-aged peers but did not reach it
- D = Improved functioning to reach a level comparable to same-aged peers
- E = Those who maintained functioning at a level comparable to same-aged peer
This data then generates the percentages for the Summary Statements.
Summary Statement 1 is the percent of students who substantially increased their rate of growth by the time they turned 3 or 6 years of age or exited the program for those children who entered or exited the program below age expectations in each outcome, calculated by (C + D) / (A + B + C + D).
Summary Statement 2 is the percent of children who were functioning within age expectations in each outcome by the time they turned 3 (or 6) years of age or exited the program, calculated by (D + E) / (A + B + C + D + E).
