What is the Daily Sheet Digest?
The Daily Sheet Digest is the newest enhancement to Kaymbu’s Daily Sheets. Through the Daily Sheet Digest, you can now provide a single piece of communication to families that includes lessons and photo Moments in addition to a detailed log of all care activities. This new Daily Sheet functionality makes the daily information families receive at the end of their child’s day more robust, and enables programs to more succinctly communicate about all the learning and development occurring at the center.
Specifically, the new Daily Sheet includes the following four sections:
- Highlights: This section includes Notes, Incidents, and Supplies to ensure these high priority items do not get lost.
- Moments: This section includes any photo and video-based Moments to help make the Daily Sheet visually appealing for families to read. Please note that text-based anecdotes are not included in the Daily Sheet Digest.
- Care Activities: A time-stamped, itemized list of all the care activities that were logged throughout the day.
- Lessons: A brief summary of all the lessons that occurred during a child’s day.
In order to activate the new Daily Sheet Digest or if Daily Sheets is not a part of your current subscription, you will need to reach out directly to our team by contacting help@kaymbu.com. This functionality is exclusively available to programs using Daily Sheets.

Moments in Daily Sheets
Kaymbu Moments are photos, videos, or text-based anecdotes. However, please note that only photo and video-based Moments can be included in the Daily Sheet Digest. These Moments can be featured in a child’s Daily Sheet through the “Send in Digest” publishing option. To learn more about Moments click here, and to learn more about publishing Moments, click here.
How to add Moments to Daily Sheets
Teachers can add photo an video-based Moments to Daily Sheets from their Kaymbu app or on the website my.kaymbu.com. To add a Moment to a child’s Daily Sheet, teachers can do the following steps:
- On the Kaymbu website, click the green “New Observation” button at the top of the Menu or click the green “Drafts” button at the top of the Menu in the app.
- Capture or upload a photo in the Drafts page.
- Click or tap on “Students” within the draft details to attach the corresponding student. Attaching a student will ensure that Moment will be featured in their Daily Sheet.
- When the Moment is ready to be published, click the “Send in Digest” button. This will include the specific Moment in the Daily Sheet of the child attached to that Moment.
If the Digest at your program is currently scheduled to send on multiple days, we recommend changing your Digest Settings to trigger the Digest to go home once per week when utilizing this tool. Our recommendation is that the Digest be scheduled to send at the end of the day on Friday to provide an educational week-in-review of Moments for families to enjoy. When families receive their week-in-review of Moments in the Digest, they will be able to download photos from there. Learn more about the Digest Settings here.
Reviewing Moments in Daily Sheets
Upon completing this workflow, the Moment will appear in the child’s Daily Sheet! Teachers can view children’s Daily Sheets, and the Moments that will be included, by navigating to the Daily Sheets section on the Menu. Next, they can click on the “Daily Sheets” tab at the top of the page, and select an individual student in their classroom. There, they can review what will be included in a student’s Daily Sheet before it is sent. Please note that a Daily Sheet cannot be sent until the contact information of a family member or guardian has been added to the child’s student profile in Kaymbu.
How to remove Moments from Daily Sheets
To remove a Moment from Daily Sheets, select an individual student from the Daily Sheet tab. There, users will be able to see all Moments included. To the right of each Moment, a small green circle with a check-mark will indicate that a Moment is included. Click or tap on this circle to deselect and remove the Moment from appearing in the Daily Sheet that is sent home. While the photo will still appear on your view, if the green circle is deselected and appears empty, it will not be included in the Daily Sheet that is sent to families. If you deselect a photo by mistake, simply re-click the green circle for it to be included again.
Family View
When families receive Daily Sheets on their Kaymbu for Families app, their child’s Moments for the day will be displayed under “Moments.” Families will also be able to download the Moment directly from their child's Daily Sheet!
Lessons in Daily Sheets
With the new Daily Sheets functionality, the classroom’s daily lessons can now appear in a child’s Daily Sheet. This ensures that families have a clearer insight into the learning children engage in while at school. The content that will be displayed from the Lesson includes the Lesson Title, the Lesson Description, and Tags. Please note that the Lessons that are sent home will not include the Steps or Supplies as these are internal for staff only.
How to add Lessons to Daily Sheets
Lessons are automatically included under a new header that says “Lessons” in students’ Daily Sheets after they have been entered in the Lesson Planner for that specific day! To learn more about the Lesson Planner feature, including how to create Lessons, click here.
How to remove Lessons from Daily Sheets
As noted, all lessons for a given day are automatically included in the new Daily Sheet Digest. However, if you need to remove an individual lesson from an individual child’s Daily Sheet, for example, if they arrived at the center after the lesson was delivered, you can do so. To remove a lesson from a student’s Daily Sheet, select an individual student from the Daily Sheet tab. In the student’s Daily Sheet, teachers will be able to see all Lessons included. To the right of each Lesson, a small green circle with a checkmark will indicate that a Lesson is included. Click or tap on this circle to deselect and remove the Lesson from appearing in the Daily Sheet that is sent home. Although the lesson information will still appear to teachers, it will not be included in the communication sent home to families.
