What are Media Restricted Students?

Media Restricted students are those who, for various reasons, have limitations on the photos or videos shared through the Kaymbu platform. Family members typically put this restriction in place to ensure the privacy and safety of their children.

Setting Up Media Restricted Students

To designate a student as Media Restricted, users can navigate to Menu > Roster > click on the applicable student’s profile. From there, select the pencil icon and adjust the "Media Restricted" toggle to set the student’s media sharing preferences. The student will be indicated as Media Restricted when the toggle appears red. To learn more about Student Management, click here. 

Once a student has been selected as Media Restricted, this will be visible for all users from the Roster. The student’s name will be highlighted in red and is indicated with a “no media” icon.

Moments with Media Restricted Students

When publishing a Moment and selecting students, any Media Restricted student will be highlighted in red, alerting the teacher or director who is publishing the observation that this documentation will not be shared with families. 

Once a Media Restricted student is selected, the Moment will be automatically marked as “Private”.

Teachers and directors will not be able to share documentation when publishing from the "Send Now" or "Send in Digest" options. Instead, they will be prompted to save the Moment to the Moments page. 

All published Moments containing Media Restricted students will be labeled as “Private” when viewing from the Moments page. To learn more about managing Media Restricted Moments, click here.

Daily Sheets Digest/Weekly Digest

Since users cannot publish a Moment containing a Media Restricted student using the Send in Digest option, photos will not be included in the student’s Daily Sheet Digest or in the weekly Family Digest. 

Storyboards

When creating a Storyboard, Moments associated with a Media Restricted student will have a red lock attached to the photo. This will help indicate that these photos are not to be shared in a Storyboard to protect the Media Restricted student(s) in the photo.

COR Advantage Assessment and Kaymbu Portfolios

Observations are often linked to student assessment, and in this regard, families of Media Restricted students can see these developmental moments in their child’s portfolio or assessment report.

Any observation associated with a Media Restricted student will be automatically included in their Family Report (for programs that utilize the COR Advantage Assessment) or Kaymbu Portfolio as long as a learning tag has been applied. If multiple students, including a Media Restricted student, have been tagged in an observation and a learning tag has been applied, the photos will be automatically included in the Family Report or Kaymbu Portfolio of all tagged students.

If there is an observation you do not want to include in a student’s portfolio or assessment report that you will share with families, simply click on the checkmark in the top-left corner of the observation in a student’s report to deselect it. The photo will not appear in the final report shared with families. However, the student’s report data will still include the observation and score.

Observations associated with a Media Restricted student can also be manually added to their Kaymbu Portfolio or COR Advantage Assessment. When manually adding an observation, any Moment associated with a Media Restricted student will be labeled as “Private” to help indicate that the photo contains a Media Restricted student.
